We attended the return of the FFF group at the Rockstore in Montpellier: it still WORKS!

The Fédération Française de Fonck, aka the FFF group, was in concert on Friday March 29 at the Rockstore in Montpellier. A machine for dismantling the tempo rather than going back in time, the group focused on its new repertoire… and it was fresh!

You never bathe in the same sweat bath twice! The last time the French Fédération de Fonck had the Rockstore mouldings, drop by drop, must have been around 2001, and it was an odyssey of spasms, obviously. And then what. And then, a youth later, twenty-three years, here it is again, something crazy, and a concert of the same type, crazy.

A small criticism all the same: Marco Prince, Yarol Poupaud, Krichou Monthieux and Nicolas Baby did not have the elegance to age as much as their absence; which is not without creating a strange effect of temporal parallax between them and us who played the game, and took, not too expensive, eh, but still a little! No problem in the boiling pit, if you can clearly see our wrinkles, it is because we are smiling as if we were twenty-three years younger and two or three things more!

A little fun from “I Scream”

However, the best news of the evening was the freshness of the setlist: unlike many veterans of the scene, FFF did not worry, with laziness or deceit, its most certified hits to border its novelty to the sounding pretext, but dedicate. the essentials for his new cake Scream. Okay, Everything we FFFait, Magazines, I’m there, Let’s become FFFou, I’m leaving, Don’t you want???, Amuri treno… . the new pieces have punch, as much bite as sharpness, and among the lot, there are hits and heat (don’t worry, we mentioned it above)!

Well, his fusion of funk and rock (the rightly called “fonck”) takes us less of the Portuguese than of the times and spoils us less, but, once again, it is not an effect of age but a stylistic effect: FFF did. don’t stay stuck (we said “québlo”, remember) in 1998, his music became more pop-punk, more sparkling with reflections of synthetic neon (the group included a friend keyboards and machines). This affirms the acceptance of the present tense without concession. In short, it’s beautiful!

Of course, the boys didn’t pretend it didn’t happen! Its fantastic versions of Silver groover, The worst and the best; Morpheus, AC2N, Niggalize him and of course Barbès it caused sweaty sweats and no doubt led to some muscle tension (which brings back memories). In any case, what energy, what obvious pleasure to be here again, to do the dawa again and to see, well, that it WORKS like crazy!

Let dry the tears of those disappointed by not being there: the French Federation of Fonck will be back in the region this summer: Saturday July 20 at the Théâtre de la Mer as part of Jazz à Sète. Bring your terry towel, it will be a nice bath!
