One of the ambassadors of the Alcohol-Free Challenge, Jean-Marie Lapointe, admits that the organization is falling short of its goal, set this year at one million dollars.

In Abitibi-Témiscamingue, 121 officially registered participants have raised almost $10,000 to date, according to the Jean Lapointe Foundation. Approximately $634,000 has been raised to date across the province.
This is what often happens during telethons and fundraisers, Mr. Lapointe puts things into perspective. People often wake up at one minute to midnight. I hope it doesn’t happen, but I have faith.
My mother died of alcoholism

Jean Lapointe’s son confides to us.
I have so many fond memories of Maison Jean Lapointe accompanying my father and meeting people in therapy (…) I also have the other side of the coin of addiction. My mother died of alcoholism and just because you have a house named after you doesn’t mean you can get your wife to stop drinking.
Jean-Marie Lapointe encourages citizens to accept the challenge and donate to the participants. We have no choice but to continue our father’s mission, he adds. We do it with love, we do it with compassion, but also with a pig’s head. We will not give up.
